The most memorable part of the trip was the sighting of two burrowing owls perched on a prairie dog hole. They were close enough to see with the naked eye, and we were fortunate enough to watch them fly away. It was a beautiful sight!

The last month has been a whirlwind of fun and joy. The weather has been nice, so our class has been spending a lot of time outside. While enjoying the outdoors, we have identified the different trees, flowers, birds, and bugs that we see. The students have noticed more animal activity over the last few weeks, as well as many new sprouts forming. It is very interesting to watch the spring changes happen right before our eyes.

The Westward Expansion

The students have spent the last month studying the Westward Expansion and how it has affected Colorado history. Each student chose a relevant subject to study further. Once they chose their subject, each student chose books from the library on their topic, read their resources, and collected data about this time in history. Once the facts were gathered, each student typed their information and found photos to represent their topic. They then created their own artifacts showing the new information they have learned. Finally, each student presented their information to the class, sharing their view on the Westward Expansion in the United States. Our next research topic is Ancient Egypt, and the students are already busy devouring books on the subject.
